This one is for the young ones and the young at heart! Summertime is one of my favorite times of the year. Here in Texas, one has to be fully prepared to brave the heat. If you thought the battle of Winterfell on Game of Thrones was a great feat, try a summer weekend in Texas. I'll teach you how to say "It sure is hot" in High Valaryian. lol

Some of your kiddos are out of school now, and some of your child-free days are numbered. I'm prepared to talk about some great tech toys and STEM focused items to keep them productive during summer months.

Don't dare question The Luxe Tech's authority on this. I have none, but I do have access!!! I'm the daughter of a happily retired teacher. My mother's major was Elementary Education, with an English minor, kindergarten endorsement, and ESL certification. I had the luxury of interviewing mama in regard to her suggestions for items and activities to assist children in remaining productive in summer months. I narrowed the request to STEM related activities.

As a child, my summers were filled with exploration, experimentation, family bonding, and thanks to my father, technology!

I'll be including some of the tech that a 5-year old me would have selected, and will share mama's selections for manipulatives and educational tools. As you read and search for these items, make sure they are age appropriate for your child and ensure that they are supervised when exploring small objects. I'll use a list format and keep in mind that these are just a few suggestions:

Jacqueline's list:

- Cinemood - Portable movie theater

- VTech Kidizoom Twist Connect Camera

- LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate

- Force1 Mini Drone for Kids

- Nintendo Switch

Mama's List:

- Planting seeds to grow a garden

- Pennies, buttons, and craft sticks for counting

- Blowing bubbles for size comparison

- Nature walks in the park to identify plant life

- Flash Cards

- Color mixing using food coloring

- Counting fruit slices

Check out some of these items below, and ask your child what subject they want to explore over the summer. Mom is an avid reader and advocate for literacy, and asks that you please include a wealth of books for summer reading. :)

Be sure to sign in and comment your favorite childhood summer activity!
